Born in Ethiopia and raised in London, Yadwa Yawand-Wossen came to America to attend Brown University where she graduated with a BA in Comparative Literature and French Literature. After school, she moved to NY and, aside from a stint in Paris, has been here ever since. First, working in advertising (10 years in all) and getting her MA in French & Romance Philology from Columbia, then becoming an accomplished voiceover artist. You can hear her on commercials for everyone from John Frieda to HSBC, and she’s been the voice of the future on many promos for the SyfiNetwork. As a parent at Trinity, she’s given school tours, co-chaired several PA committees and, more recently, has been PA President (2017-2019). For the past 21 years, she’s lived in Hamilton Heights with her husband and two children. Yadwa’s more recent interest includes work with immigrants and refugees which has grown from her volunteer work at a local food pantry. She is now in the process of learning more about resettlement agencies and how to impact the lives of recent arrivals.
